HP printer won't recognize new ink cartridge: Restart the machine and it should now work. If not, you may have to clean the cartridge. Some of HP's newer model laser printers have a setting that only allows original HP toners to be used in the printer. If this is switched on, it will reject all non-original toners.

Alternatively, you can look for the printer cartridge number or cartridge type in your printer's manual. If you no longer have your printer's manual, you might be able to find this information online by doing a search for your printer's model number, which is often found on the printer itself.

Cartridges incompatible, incorrect, or not intended for use in the printer. Compatibility errors can occur when the installed cartridges are made for a different printer or country/region or the connection between the cartridges and printer is poor.
